World Book and Copyright Day – April 23rd

As a Librarian, need to do something today, so started writing about the books that I read recently:

1. Deeper Reading by Kelly Gallagher, Stenhouse Publishers, published in 2004
2. The Reading Zone: How to Help Kids Become Skilled, Passionate, Habitual, Critical Reader, by Nancie Atwell Scholastic Teaching Resources, published in 2007

I selected these two books for the reasons the titles themselves reveal in the first place. Kelly Gallagher's book deals with the aspects that a teacher needs to take regarding making the students enjoy reading as well as become lifelong readers. His website  http://kellygallagher.org/ is also useful to teachers.

Regarding the book by Nancie Atwell the makes one to see the aspect of making the reader enjoy reading. Creating a reading zone and making the zone for the sake of helping the kids become serious readers is worth reading.

The two books deals with various practical aspects as well while writing the book, which made me enjoy reading the book. The language of the book is simple and make the readers to think.
