Yesterday (July 3rd,
2013) I met a group who (shall I say likeminded people) as the group discussed
most of the time books. Though the group consisted of mixed age’s one thing I
sensed, which made me feel good about is that the group’s enthusiasm to learn
and share their readings and what they know.
Once in a while
you meet a person
I was traveling (Sorry I forgot the date) in a public
transport bus, holding my book. Next to me sitting a gentleman curious to know
what I was reading and there started discussion on reading and general change
in city’s life. I felt so good about learning so many things about city in
which I am living. I started feeling concerned for the changes that are taking
place, which hampering the happiness of people who enjoyed small things that
mattered.
How do I put this?
I was travelling in train sitting
next to me two elderly men were talking generally and they found the similar
ground of talking as they studied in the same school and batch. I was curious
as I also found a common ground (they were talking about the school in which I
studied and they were discussing about the teachers I was familiar with) finally I realized they were talking about my father
and his friend and I volunteered in giving them names and they were surprised
and I told them the reason. They felt good to know about their teacher’s son,
when they asked about their teacher I had to give them the sad news, I told
them I am returning to my place after performing last rites of my father.
My faith and optimism in the
teaching profession got solid ground after this incident. I had to retake
a pledge of continuing in the profession.

Wonderful piece of thought to share Sir! I have always found strangers with an ear to listen and learn more as my own friends and that is the reason I have learned to respect and value everyone's ideas and opinions. It is indeed an amazing feeling!
Thank you for your enriching comments. I am learning each day from people I meet and observe
