Publisher: Jossey-Bass, 2013)
ISBN: 978-1118456194
I happened to see the new arrivals of the publisher Jossey-Bass website and ordered the book. This book to me really a thought provoking and made me realize what is the need of the hour. Though this book to certain extent written from the US background, but to me the book focuses on the education at global level. The book is a product of the working of CTQ - Centre for Teaching Quality a nonprofit organisation.
The book deals with the interesting concept of teacherpreneurship - that deals with the idea of teachers along with the quality of innovative ideas and the professionalism in their work without leaving the classroom experience. The book contains chapters that deal with the concept of teacherpreneur, various characteristics that are included in the concept. Case studies of various teacher leaders along with the criteria for being chosen is given.
One chapter deals with the Finland the education system and the teachers and their role in the system. How Finnish system brought reforms in the education system and their leading position in PISA an international student evaluation.
At the end of each chapter various sites are mentioned along with various activities that will help teachers to strengthen their role to prepare for the teacherpreneurship.
Really a thought provoking book. I suggest this book to all those who are involved and interested in the education system.
One important feature of the book that can be highlighted is that using iphone and the web one can see the advanced features that help the teachers in their learning process.
