The Secret Life of
Walter Mitty
Watching a good movie on a
weekend really makes one forget the week’s tiredness. The
Secret Life of Walter Mitty made me feel good about the week and made
me look forward the week to begin. After watching the movie I read reviews
as well (I normally don’t read the reviews before watching the movie) as I feel certain times the reviews won’t give me the same feeling as of watching the
movie. The review gave me the fact that the movie is loosely based on the short
story by James Thurber.
The story begins with Walter Mitty’s (Ben Stiller) routine
including his day dreaming nature. He visits office and finds the new MD for transition trying to scare people. The LIFE looking forward to close the print edition with the last edition
and going for online edition. Then the real story begins, when Sean O’Connell
(Sean Penn) sends his film for the last edition in which 25th
negative is missing. Walter tries to find Sean to inquire about the film number 25.
What happens … one need to watch the movie?
As the movie progresses the characters as
they come and move really made me feel connected to the movie and the
realization of fact that how the work place environment particularly due to the
lay-offs make people insecure mostly and how some see only the outer side of
the motto rather than deep understanding with which an organization starts. How
the hardworking staff feel about the inside stuff when their contribution to
the growth of the organization is not valued. While looking for the film Walter
realizes his passion for the adventure, back-pack and the motto of the organization
he ventures to find Sean the journey which he takes, and what happens in the
climax made me enjoy the movie.
The things I enjoyed in the movie most
- Sean O’Connell
(Sean Penn) words to Walter, "Beautiful things don't seek attention"
- the scene when Walter and Cheryl watch the cover of the last edition
- the scene when Walter and Cheryl watch the cover of the last edition
