Education should be the lifelong learning process. I understand there has to be a level / benchmark to assess or attain after which one should try and earn for the sake of livelihood. There should be clarity in - knowledge, passion, livelihood. The role of education in all these aspects. Knowledge and passion will have no boundaries, there remains livelihood which needs certain level of proficiency so as to qualify for certain jobs, professions. The education should provide the opportunities for these. Government should see that all these aspects are covered when making policy level decisions. At the same time every citizen of the country should be given opportunity to gain certain level of education. As mentioned in the videos. The governments do take into consideration the Global economy, Competition into consideration but for even that the possible solutions should be given priority while keeping their goal into consideration.
Priorities should be Universal Education. Purpose of the Education should be Highlighted. The priorities whether it is meant for lifelong learning, creation and dispersing/imparting the knowledge or skills to impart so as to make the citizen take part in the creation of wealth and taking part in the Global Economy or competing with the other countries so as to claim space in the Global Economy, which helps in the power struggle.
The governments should set up independent groups to ensure the quality of education is imparted. There should be checks and balances for responsible behaviour of the group. Accountability, integrity, responsibility over the decisions of the groups should also be need to be given focus while groups are formulated. There should be recall of the groups in case the groups are not working effectively. Social audit should be conducted at regular intervals. The groups should be autonomous so as to work effectively.

Your writing and point of view is absolute. But the glitch is that more often the autonomous groups eventually become 'profit-minded'. Commercialization seeps in very quickly. The morals and ethics go down the drain before the magnanimity of money. We need a change in this attitude. I've seen many teachers craving for money, less hours of teaching and more periods for personal relaxation. It is a sad plight for the present generation. This has to change. Education must become a priority for the teachers, and everything else must be placed after it.
You are right Suhasini. But I always feel that like minded people will always be there only thing is at times these people are not visible. My experience in at least from the past four years I have seen people with positive attitude, concern for education, passion for teaching or what ever they are doing, about which I was really worried about. After meeting them I realised may be I just need to do my bit and look for these kind of people so that I will amidst passionate people.
